April 2005 Mobilisation

On April 28 2005, Alcan held its Annual General Meeting. A time for CEO Travis Engen to drone on for extendend period of times about Alcan's "integrated approach" and Alcan's profile as a Socialy Responsible corporation.

Also a time for Alcan't in India to bring the issue home that Alcan is directly responsible for its investments in Kashipur.

Alcan't in India and their allies held a People's Assembly outside the International Aviation Building, in Montreal , where Alcan's AGM was taking place. (photos)

Hear the shareholders activism inside the Alcan AGM. Listen to :

  • Anna Malla of Alcan't in India asks Travis Engen " how much longer does Alcan plan on misrepresenting the situation with the Utkal project in Kashipur to its shareholder and the general public ?" (that's where the recording starts, sorry we missed Anna's intervention!).
  • Lise Parent of Regroupement pour la responsabilité sociale des entreprises (RRSE),
  • Sarah Heiberg of Alcan't in India
  • independent journalist Tamara Herman
